Greens 101

Find Out Which GREENS Are Best For You!

As a company who is a proprietor of many different Green formulas, we want to help set the record straight and help you understand what might be best for YOU!

(*Just a side note, for those of you who may not know our history, our beautiful little company, Simply Young, was born from her mother company, Catie’s Organics, who was born from Energy Essentials. All companies still exist in the world today and they have all taken on their owned destined identities.)

– Just Greens:  We created “Just Greens” as a way to counteract the large amount of radiation that could be present in your environment. After the Chernoble explosion, scientists did a study on a group of the victims using different green grasses to chelate the radiation from their bodies. The results were staggering, reducing their measurable radiation over fifty percent. These greens grasses, including barley grass, wheat grass, oat grass and alfalfa were all used during this study and we have included them all, plus much more, within our “Just Greens” formula. It is the perfect addition to your “Catie’s Organic Greens” if you are already taking those and you wish you double your benefit! You can find “Just Greens” here.

Catie’s Organic Greens: Is a perfect formula for daily use. It is filled with blue-green algaes such as spirulina and chlorella and is also loaded with the very healthy, barley grass powder and fermented barley grass. Amongst this, it has many medicinal mushrooms such as maitaki, shitaki, and cordyceps, and is also filled with probiotics and enzymes for optimal digestion. You can find “Catie’s Organic Greens” here.

Catie’s Gluten Free Greens: This product is wonderful for the more sensitive individuals, and obviously if you are gluten free it is ideal! It has all of the benefits of “Catie’s Organic Greens”, except in place of the barley grass and oat grass we simply up-ed the spirulina and chlorella and also added asparagus! You can find “Catie’s Gluten Free Greens” here.

Vital Flow Essentials:A particular benefit that comes with “Vital Flow Essentials” is that it contains citrilus lanatus and nitric oxidewhich are vaso dialators, a fancy word for allowing the veins to open more and letting in more blood flow. This means more blood and oxygen pumping through the body and therefore it makes VFE an excellent pre-workout drink! VFE is also very high in iron due to the beet and nettle content and so it can be very helpful in building the blood! You can find “Vital Flow Essentials” here.

Protein, Protein, Protein! 5 Reasons…

  1. Healthy Weight: Satiation is satisfied eating protein. A protein rich meal will keep you feeling light, vital and happy, and ready to take on your day. Gastric emptying is slowed when protein is in the system, leaving you fuller for longer. Also, protein, especially plant protein, helps to build lean muscle mass, particularly is you engage in exercise, which boosts your metabolism, keeping you in a fat burning state all day long.
  2. Supports Neurotransmitters: Mental function is everything, and to have proper communication between the brain and the nerve cells is imperative for a thriving life experience. However, most people simply tolerate their existence and live lower standards of happiness. Though, with sight dietary shifts, your cognitive function and happiness can be optimized. Neurotransmitters are responsible for regulating your sleep, mood, weight and stress response, which is largely dependent upon the amount of amino acids (protein) you consume. Neurological side effects of not eating enough protein can result in depression, anxiety, depression and other disorders.
  3. Stabilizes Blood Sugar: Since protein slows gastric emptying, it keeps insulin and blood sugar from spiking. Of course this is important for prediabetics and diabetics, but why is that good for everyone? Everyone can benefit for the mood balancing that comes from balanced blood sugar and proper meal combining. Having small amounts of carbohydrates, with adequate protein and a good serving of healthy fats, such as seeds, avocados, coconut and nuts can make all the difference in your ability to focus and produce those “feel good” hormones we’re all looking for!
  4. Builds Muscle Mass and Metabolism: Protein is the king of creating lean muscle mass, especially when in partnership with a moderate amount of exercise. Having increased muscle mass also boosts your metabolism Big Time! Allowing you to burn more calories while at rest.
  5. Build Bone Health: Since protein builds muscle, it is of great advantage to have a proper amount of muscle mass to protect your skeleton from fractures or bone breaks. But what’s the best way to actually BUILD bone? PLANTS! Green, leafy vegetables and nuts and legumes such as chia seeds and garbanzo beans are excellent sources of calcium and plant based amino acids and proteins!

What Are My BEST Sources of Protein?

As we know, people are embracing all sorts of diets now a days. From full fledged vegan, to paleo, to high fat, to blood type diets, to pescetarian. Every one is exploring and seeing what works best for their bodies. We are open to all of it, however, we do believe that having the basis of your diet be high in plant based super foods, green leafy veggies, sea vegetables, plant proteins and an excellent source of high quality water is essential for keeping the acid alkaline balance in your body. GREENS GREENS GREENS

If you live in L.A. you’d know that no person who’s relatively health conscious goes a day without greens. It’s simply a must. Juice bars are proliferating, securing themselves on every street corner, and non-nonchalantly carrying a super food smoothie as you walk is steadily becoming as trendy as a Starbucks.

However, this is not just a fad diet. Green foods are essential to the cellular functioning of the human body. One of the mega reasons for this is the compound chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is a fabulous element, found in all green foods (besides your grandmother’s homemade green jello). On short hand, it is excellent for:

  • Blood purification
  • Assisting in healthy blood clotting
  • Healthy wound healing
  • Assisting in weight loss
  • Deodorizing the breath and body
  • Helping to balance hormones
  • Cultivating digestive health
  • Fighting free-radicals
  • Anti-inflammatory benefits
  • Assisting in addressing the root causes of arthritis and fibromyalgia
  • Promoting hair, skin and nail health
  • Possibly fighting against carcinogens
  • Being a great source of plant iron

Doctors say that you want to have at least 7-10 servings of vegetables PER DAY. The best come from fresh, ripe, raw, organic veggies. Consuming juices is one of the best ways to get these vital nutrients and enzymes, though sometimes this eliminates the vital necessity of fiber needed for your colon. Making sure you are also consuming whole plant foods, high in fiber is also incredibly important… Maybe try blended green smoothies or adding a tablespoon or so of chia seed to your foods or beverages!

Adding a powdered green super food, such as our Vital Flow Essentials is also an excellent idea. One scoop is equivalent to an average of 7 servings of vegetables, which is quite extraordinary. It has a super-boost of chlorophyll as well as other incredible herbs and nutrients, such as: organic spirulina, barley grass, chlorella, chia, celery seed, beet root, gingko biloba, pomegranate and much much more.
